Wood Green Bingo Has Talent
Even though Dancing On Ice has now reached its conclusion, it seems as though there is no shortage of TV shows which will have players hooked for the forthcoming weeks and months. The Voice is the BBC’s new signing programme which is going up against ITV with Britain’s Got Talent. Both of these shows will no doubt grab the attention and focus of many folk and it may be that some leisure venues suffer a drop-off in the amount of people who turn up. With money being tight, some people may opt for a night-in as opposed to a night.
Big refurbishment for bingo firm
This is not what the refurbished Mecca Bingo hall in Wood Green wants to hear. The company ploughed £600,000 into refurbishing the place and there needs to be a return on the investment. It is easy to say that a firm like Mecca has the money to be able to pay this on doing up their halls but it can cause problems and put a company under increased pressure. With TV shows being the focal point for many in life these days, it is essential for bingo venues to do everything they can to boost the numbers coming through the door.
Bingo needs talent
This perhaps explains the celebrity choice to open the refurbished bingo hall. On a weekend when TV viewers were being reminded that Britain has allegedly got talent, who better to come that a former contestant on the show. Stavros Flatley was an overnight sensation on the show, proving that talent can often be a subjective issue. Some people may think that there is merit in singing and dancing badly while being overweight and they are the sort of people that loved the quirky routines.
It is unclear whether this star turn will be enough to help the bingo hall be a big success but there is a lot riding on it. The hall was first opened back in 1996 but has been through a number of changes. One of the new features in the hall is a social lounge, which will allow players to make the most of their time and even enjoy a meal when they are out for an evening of bingo fun. Anything which provides more reasons for players to get out of the house and have a good evening has to be considered a good thing.
