Wife Keeps Lottery Secret
Anyone would think that the minute that they found out that they have won a significant amount on the lottery that they would rush to cash in the ticket. Not so for one lucky lady who scooped more than a quarter of a million pounds recently.
This lucky lady, Angela Sutherland, had just seen her husband off to his oil rig job which would see him gone for five weeks when she checked on the last ticket they had bought that day. To her shock, she realized that they had won big but she did not want to claim anything until he came back on leave.
She told him that they had won when he came back onto shore but they both managed to keep the secret until he could get back home to claim the prize together. In fact, claiming the prize took so long that the National Lottery actually put out an appeal for the winner to come forward, but Angela still held her tongue.
Indeed, she put the ticket away in a safe but she had to keep going back to check on it because she still could not believe that this had happened. She told close friends and family about the win but she was not absolutely convinced that they had won the prize until the cheque was presented to them.
The couple hail from Wick in Caithness and the first thing on the itinerary with this magnificent prize is a trip to Florida. Next on the list will be the mortgage which is to be paid off and the final treat, a purple mini!
The couple has three young daughters who they now hope to treat too. They are the second big winners in Wick. Last year, another lucky couple scooped half a million pounds in the Thunderball jackpot in March.
There is also some hope for a lucky ticket holder too since there is still a price of eighty three thousand pounds hanging in the balance with no one yet coming forward to claim it. They matched five numbers and the bonus ball to scoop this lovely prize, but unfortunately, no one has yet stepped up to show the winning ticket.
People are being asked to check all tickets from the July 16th to see if they have won this prize. They have six months to come forward, of course, but he longer the ticket is out there the less likely it is to be kept safe.
