Out of School Care Club Boosted By Bingo

It is a common complaint that there is never enough for children to do these days and that more should be done to give them activities in the local community. Some people will find this ironic given the number of computer games and entertainment options that children can enjoy these days but there is still a need for children to have a place where they can play and interact with other people their own age outside the school environment. Many parents also find that the lack of viable options for their children to be looked after or supervised outside of school hours also impacts on their ability to find a job.

Bingo can boost community spirit

This is why a service providing a place for children to attend after school is of great benefit to a local community and it is definitely something that can be of benefit to everyone. The children get to play in a safe and fun environment with their peers while parents can attend work safe in the knowledge that their children are being looked after in the period between school and them returning from work. The only problem is that this can be a costly exercise to run but many local communities are finding ways to raise funds in the hope of helping out the people who need assistance.

Money is always needed

The Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre has recently been trying to set up an out of school and youth club but found that it was costing a considerable amount of money to fund. Rather than shutting the club down, a planning committee decided to put together a bingo night in order to raise funds for the club. A lot of hard work was put into the planning and preparation of the bingo night with a lot of great prizes on offer. This meant that many people were happy to come along and the club was packed out with players happy to join in the fun and support a very important cause.

The night was that much of a success that there has already been plans put in place for the November bingo night, which will hopefully add more funds to the coffers of the club. Bingo may be a game that is more commonly associated with the elderly in a local area but in this case, it is he youngsters and their parents who will be getting the benefit. Of course, the bingo players also get the opportunity to join in the bingo fun so in that respect, everyone is a winner with this community plan.
