This is what facebook users in Hinckley have been hoping to do with their latest facebook campaign. The fact of the Flutters bingo club is up for debate and there are many people who do not want to see it demolished or left derelict. There is an acceptance that there is no great desire for a full sized bingo hall of this nature in the region but there is still hope that the venue can be saved. This is why a new campaign has been set up to raise support for turning the former bingo hall into a night club. At least that way it can still be a place where people go to meet up and have some fun, even if the bingo element will be removed.

There is a definite surge of interest in retaining old buildings of local and architectural interest so it is not a surprise to see facebook groups like these springing up to keep people interested. The fact that the group picked up over 200 new supporters in the space of 2 days indicates that there is the potential for this campaign to grow quickly and hopefully there will be a lot more people pledging their support to keeping a great venue alive in the Hinckley region.
At the moment, the plans for Flutters is that it will be knocked down along with a row of shops to make way for a new supermarket and of course, there will be many in the local region who would be very happy with this outcome. It will provide jobs and make shopping easier for many local residents. However, it is only right that everyone should get to voice their opinion and this facebook campaign may get a lot more people thinking about what is right for Hinckley.
