Edinburgh Bingo Players Know Glasgow Is Best

There is a lot of excitement in Edinburgh at the moment because the two football teams in the capital are facing off against each other in the Scottish Cup final this weekend. The only problem for both teams is that the final is being held in Glasgow. The national stadium is in Glasgow, Glasgow is the home of football in Scotland and to be brutally honest, Glasgow is a far better city than Edinburgh and it always will be. There is a lot of bitterness in Edinburgh towards Glasgow and it is not just related to the salt and sauce that the East Coast lot choose to have on their chips! Edinburgh is a strange place and the fact that Glasgow is a warmer and friendlier city rankles at the heart of every Edinburgh person.

Two cities are never equal

This means that any small victory over a Glaswegian or in Glasgow by an Edinburgh man or woman is celebrated greatly. The Glaswegians are able to shrug this off, the over the top celebrations practically defining the small minded nature of Edinburgh folk with regards their relationship and feelings towards Glasgow but life is what it is. Life in Edinburgh with its non-existent trams, its lack of great music venues and so many run-down, economically struggling areas can be tough but life for one Edinburgh pensioner got brighter and it is all thanks to Glasgow.

Be a bingo winner in a big city

Sandra Henry from Silverknowes in Edinburgh is a regular player at the Mecca Bingo in Leith, which is still an area that is not for the faint-hearted. However, one night Sandra and her friend decided to make a trip through to the big city and indulge in some bingo fun there. A trip to the Mecca Glasgow Quay, on the banks of the River Clyde, was the order of the evening and Sandra managed to scoop the £10,000 jackpot prize! Some of the money will be going directly on a holiday to Ibiza that Sandra will be taking with her friend Pat Stout, who also made the trip to Glasgow and the rest will likely be used in Edinburgh, helping to boost the local economy.

It won’t stop Edinburgh folk showing bitterness and hostility to Glaswegians but it is good to know that the light from Scotland’s biggest city helped to spread some sunshine on Leith and the capital itself.
