Do Young Football Fans Want To Play Bingo?
In the run up to Christmas, it makes sense for football clubs to try and make as much money as possible. After all, every other business is doing the exact same thing and a number of football clubs have to face up to the fact that many of their games may be postponed due to poor weather in the upcoming weeks and months. This means getting as much money through the door now is of great benefit and can really help a club survive. One of the biggest markets for a football club is their young fans and it is inevitable that clubs will look to these fans and their parents for money.
Football and bingo are not easy bedfellows
One club looking to make money in this manner is Exeter City who are promoting their youth membership as being a perfect gift for a fans Christmas. This membership is open to all fans up to the age of 18 years old and is something that most clubs provide for their young fan base. It has to be said that the value for money for many of these memberships is not the greatest but if young fans are happy there is no real harm in them.
Given that some of the benefits of the membership for the Exeter City fans have already passed, the club has reduced the price for the remaining membership of the season. However, they have also been at pains to remind fans that there are many benefits left from the membership. A Christmas card and a cinema morning are all good examples of what is still to come but the idea of an Easter Bingo day may not be as exciting as the club would like to think it is. Unless it is football orientated, the people behind the club may find that the interest in bingo for young children is not too high.
Life supporting Exeter City can be tough enough but being forced to take part in a game of bingo may be all that is needed to turn some young fans off the beautiful game for life! It can only be hoped that the team turn on the tricks and the skills when they are playing because the off-field excitement may not be too enticing for the young fans that Exeter City hope will become the main fan base of tomorrow.
